While we are involved in the presidential race some people around the world are involved in just staying alive from day to day.
In The Qandil mountains, North Iraq, both Turkey and Iran have be conducting military maneuvers to try and rid the area of Kurdish separatist groups believe to be based there.
Unfortunately, what this means for over 120 families that usually lead a quiet tranquil life is that, there homes have been bombed and after fleeing there homes to the surrounding mountains to live in caves for over 20 days in hopes of things quieting down when that didn’t come to pass, on the contrasty, the bombings got worse, the families fled and are living in what is known as the Mangory Bridge Camp.
One of the bigest problems is clean drinking water and several of the children have fallen ill it seems from drinking dirty water.

IRC has brought water tanks to the camps to help out with that problem.
Now that problem has been solved, a new one arises as to the fact that with winter coming the river will rise and they will be forced to abandon there makeshift home, but have no alternative place to go. They are unable to return home, and can’t afford to go to a town to live, as they can’t pay the rent.
Another problem is the amount of school the children are missing and the parents concern that they might fall behind in their studies.
The IRC is trying to come to an arrangement with the local authorities on behalf of these displaced people, that will allow for the children to go to school and for the families to have someplace safe to stay, until it will be safe enough for them to go back home.
